Dental Implants

What are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once it fuses with the bone, a custom-made crown is attached on top. The result looks, feels and works like a natural tooth.

Unlike dentures or bridges, implants don’t rely on neighbouring teeth for support and they help protect the jawbone from shrinking after tooth loss.

At Dr. Praveen’s Dental, implant treatment is planned and carried out by Dr. Praveen, who has been practising since 2001. He holds an Asia Book of Records entry for placing dental implants in an 84-year-old patient.

Benefits

  • Natural look: crowns are matched to the shade and shape of your teeth.
  • Comfortable bite: eat, speak and smile with confidence.
  • Long-lasting: with good care, implants can last many years.
  • Protects your jawbone: stops bone loss in the area of the missing tooth.
  • Keeps healthy teeth untouched: no grinding down of neighbouring teeth, unlike bridges.
  • Easy to maintain: brush and floss like natural teeth.

Who is it for?

Implants are suitable for most adults who have lost one tooth, several teeth, or all their teeth, and who have healthy gums and enough jawbone. If bone is low, treatments such as bone grafting may help. Dr. Praveen will examine you and advise whether implants are right for you.

Our Implant Treatment Process

  1. Consultation and scan: examination and X-ray/3D scan to plan treatment.
  2. Implant placement: the implant is placed under local anaesthesia.
  3. Healing: the implant integrates with the bone over a few months.
  4. Crown fitting: a custom crown is fitted and adjusted for a comfortable bite.
  5. Follow-up: check-ups to keep your implant and gums healthy.
